Of Love Page 5

“Could kiss you forever,” Dex told him.

“That would be difficult when you’re running.” His mouth ran away with him, all too often.

Dex blinked at him, then started laughing. How wonderful it was to be with someone who got him.

“God, you make me laugh, Kent. Like truly.”

“Thanks. Thanks, honey.” The next flash of lightning didn’t seem so scary.

“Hey, you didn’t jump that time.” Smiling, Dex gave him another kiss.

  “You distracted me.”

“Oh, is that all it takes? Looks like I have a job, then.”

He chuckled, only a little embarrassed.

Dex covered his mouth again, this kiss slow and lazy. It wasn’t even erotic, more a connection that seemed to wrap around him like a hug. One of Dex’s hands slid over his belly, stroking so gently. He hummed, the touch letting him relax enough to close his eyes.

The next boom of thunder felt like a vibration through him, like a part of the kisses and strokes. He felt the wind pick up, the pattering of the rain growing stronger.

“We might have to abandon the tent,” Dex admitted. “Do the seats in the back of your SUV fold down?”

“They do. I’d say we should pack up and go, but I’m worried about navigating that road.” It promised to be slick as shit.

“We’re better off not driving in this. And if we’re sleeping in the back, I don’t want to share space with the wet stuff.”

“I…. Okay, what do you want me to do?” Kent wasn’t clear on the process, but he could help.

“I don’t know if we’re there yet. But if it happens, you grab the blanket and I’ll grab the sleeping bags. And we’ll run.”

“It’s only a couple of steps,” Kent pointed out.

“Just make sure you open it from here.”

“Yeah. Okay.” Kent looked out the flap, the water pouring down.

“Think dry thoughts,” Dex suggested, lips twisting.

  “Sand. Desert. Chalk. Ash.”

The laughter that had been lurking burst out of Dex again. The man really did have a great laugh. Kent liked thinking he was funny too.

Another bolt of lightning shot through the sky, followed by an enormous clap of thunder. Dex just pulled him in closer.

“This is a little scary,” Kent admitted. Maybe more than a little.

“It’s just as safe out here, but if you’d feel better, we can move to the car,” Dex offered.

“No. No, I trust you. I do.” He wasn’t a coward. He wasn’t.

Dex kissed him for that, long and lingering, distracting him again from the crash and boom outside their tent. He hummed, licking lazily around Dex’s lips. Dex turned him so they were face-to-face instead of spooning, making it easier on his neck.

  “Don’t think I’m a coward,” Kent whispered.

“I don’t.” Dex rubbed their noses together.

  “Promise?”

“I swear, Kent. I think you’re an amazing man, and I won’t stop, okay?”

“I just… the lightning wigs me out a bit.” He stayed close in, snuggling with Dex.

“I’ve always loved storms. Unless I’m actually in the water. Then they freak me out.”

  “Oh man. I bet.”

“But like this? Curled up with a sexy man and rubbing all sorts of things together? The storm makes this more intense.” Dex kissed his temple.

“I don’t feel sexy right now, but thank you.”

“I bet I can change that.” Dex had a purely naughty grin.

Kent would take that wager. “What do you want to bet?”

“Blow jobs.” Dex hadn’t even hesitated.

Kent chuckled. “Good thing I know about those.”

“I know you do. It’s kind of a thing for us gay dudes.” Dex’s eyes twinkled at him.

“Are you sure? I mean, penises. Eww.” He loved this. Loved playing with Dex.

“I know, eh? All hard and velvety soft at the same time. So hot.” Dex wrinkled his nose.

“You forgot swollen and drippy.” Kent was good at this game.

“Uh-huh. So there should be plenty of incentive to win the bet.”

“Except that means staying scared and wigged out.” Which was infinitely less fun than blow jobs.

“I’m willing to go sixty-nine if I win,” Dex offered.

“If I can get it up, me too.” Kent snuggled in, laughing at the pair of them. “We’re dorks.”

“We’re dorks who haven’t noticed the last few lightning strikes and thunder.”

“Maybe the storm is passing.” Still, he knew Dex was right.

“And maybe I was right. Maybe I know just how to distract you.” Dex tugged him closer, and while he saw the next flash of lightning, it didn’t startle him.

“Ditto or good. Something.” He loved how their bodies fit together.

Dex laughed, bringing their mouths together. The kiss was sloppy but absolutely lovely. He’d never met anyone who liked to laugh as much as he did.

Dex rolled him over onto his back, the kisses becoming deeper, with more intent. Oh sweet. So sweet. Kent opened up, let himself enjoy it. Dex’s cock hardened against his hip and belly, so hot.

He reached down and palmed Dex gently.

  “Mmm. Love your touch.”

“Thank you. It’s easy to touch you.” Kent loved it.

“Good. I want you to touch me a lot.” Dex kissed his neck, his throat.

The soft kisses felt amazing—a mixture of heat and tingling.

“Going to make love to you,” Dex whispered.

“You do that well.” Hell, they didn’t have to be having sex at all for that.

“Because I like doing it. Because you make me want to make you feel good.”

Kent did enjoy that genuine sweetness, the fondness that they were building.

Dex’s fingers danced over his ribs, slid to his abs. They tightened, and when Dex tugged the tiny hairs there, Kent moaned.

“I love the sounds you make. I feel like such a stud.” Dex tugged his pubes again.

“You are. You’re like a Greek god or something.”

“Careful, you’re going to make my head swell.”

Kent had to laugh, had to. “Is that my cue to say that’s not the only thing that’s gonna swell?”

“Nah, that other thing is already swollen.”

The laughter started again, filling the air and fighting the sound of rain.

Dex licked at his left nipple, sucked on it. The sensation was odd, the heat and suction making him groan. Then Dex blew and his nipple drew up tight from the sudden cold. His body was on overload, and he knew he could feel anything, any amount of pleasure. And the heat from Dex’s mouth as it wrapped back around his nipple was enormous.

“Dex….” Kent’s toes curled, that suction sharp, the blood drawing to the surface.

“Mmm. You like that.” Dex rubbed their bodies together, Kent’s cock sliding along Dex’s thigh.

  “Uh-huh. I like.” Kent liked a lot.

Dex’s fingers slid down to his balls, fingering and rolling them. Heat was beginning to build up all around them, and Kent pushed the sleeping bag away. Moaning, Dex began to rock against him.

“Want. Want, honey.” He wrapped around Dex, the contrast between cold and hot delicious.

“Me. too. The condoms and lube are just to the right and up about a half a foot.”

  “Your right or my right?”

“Yours.” Dex kept rolling them together.

“’Kay.” Kent stretched up, laughing as he fumbled for them.

“Two inches to the left, sweet.”

He grabbed one, cheering in victory.

“Woo. Get it on me, I want to be inside you,” Dex ordered.

  “Mmm. Turnabout’s fair play, hmm?”

“Yeah. We’ll do it the other way again next time,” promised Dex.

“We can do lots of things, but now, I want.”

“Me too. Get it on me.” Dex
repeated. “Now.”

“Uh-huh.” Kent only dropped it twice.

Dex giggled for him the second time it fell, and kissed him distractingly. He was never going to make his fingers work if they kept this up. Dex’s hand tangled with his, helping him, sort of. Between the two of them it might have taken way longer than it should have, but they finally did get the damn thing on Dex.

Lying back, Kent grabbed the backs of his knees and spread for Dex.

“Come on. You wanted in.” He was nothing if not happy to facilitate.

  “Yeah. Yeah, I did.”

Dex pressed against his hole, then pushed in slowly. Kent sucked in a breath, bore down so that he could adjust to the pressure.

Dex groaned loudly. “Oh God, you’re tight. Like really, really.”

  “Uh. Uh-huh.” He was flying.

Dex leaned their foreheads together, staring into his eyes as the hard cock kept spreading him. It was as intense as the storm somehow. A little wild, a little uncontrolled, a lot exciting.

Once Dex was in all the way, balls and hips pressed against Kent, Dex pulled out again. He moved slowly, filling Kent over and over.

“Oh, honey.” Kent couldn’t stop watching, straining to see in the darkness.

“Feels so good.” Dex got a rhythm, thrusting into him nice and easy.

“God, yes.” He loved the feeling of Dex inside him.

Kissing him, Dex moved faster, ramping things up. His entire body rolled, sliding underneath Dex. Groaning, Dex bit his lower lip and thrust harder. Kent pushed up, taking every inch, his shoulders forcing the air in the mattress to go everywhere.

“Yes!” Dex cried out, and they found a new rhythm, this one punching that thick cock into him.

Suddenly it felt even bigger, his entire body clenching. When Dex wrapped his hand around Kent’s cock, it was huge.

  “Dex!” He jerked, squeezed, shuddered.

“Come on, sweet. Want to feel you.”

  God, yes. Kent totally agreed.

Dex shifted and found his gland, hitting it hard. Kent cried out, his heels digging in as he shot.

“Fuck! Yes!” Dex shouted, jerking into him a few more times.

The lightning flashed, brightening the sky a few more times, outlining Dex. His lover was stunning as he came. Kent’s eyes wanted to close, but he fought the urge, wanting to see every second. Another flash of lightning lit up Dex, and then his lover collapsed down against him, panting hard against his neck.

“Wow.” Kent kissed Dex’s temple, body still squeezing spasmodically.

“Yeah. So good. I love being inside you.”

“It’s intense, huh?” And he found himself eager to join with Dex, to feel.

“Yeah, yeah. That’s a good word for it. I loved having you inside me too.” Dex nuzzled him as he came out. “I just like being with you.”

“Yeah. Yeah, honey. It’s like magic.”

  “And I won the bet.”

Kent started chuckling, tickled. “You did, didn’t you?”

“I did.” Dex waggled his eyebrows. “Sixty-nine for the two of us.”

“You’ll have to save it for a desperate moment,” Kent suggested.

“You think I should? I was kind of thinking in the morning.”

“We might be desperate by then, you never know.”

Dex laughed for him. “We just might be at that.”

He kissed Dex’s nose. “Thank you, honey, for helping me not freak.”

“You’re welcome. And believe me, it was totally my pleasure.” Dex got the sleeping bag covering them up again, holding him close.

“You think we’re safe for the night, love?” Kent asked.

“Yeah, I do. The storm is actually heading away now.”

“Cool. That sounds good.” He was ready to be home, actually. Have hot waffles and a long shower.

“You wanna pack up first thing in the morning and go home?” Dex asked softly.

“Do you? I mean, I’d love a shower and someone else cooking us breakfast, but I don’t want to miss out on time with you.”

“Both those things sound awesome. Spending time with you sounds even better. But there’s no reason we couldn’t continue to ‘camp’ at home, is there?”

“Nope. We could put the blazing fire channel on and not have to worry about cold lube.”

Laughing, Dex nodded. “It’s a deal, then. We’ll pack up in the morning and go get showers and breakfast.”

“Waffles and bacon and fancy coffee.” He was so in for that.

“Sounds good.” Dex cuddled him close, keeping him warm.

“Mmm.” He stayed right there, close, happy.

He hardly even noticed the lightning and thunder anymore, and the rain had abated to a gentle fall that made soothing noises against the roof of the tent.

He yawned, eyelids heavy. “Sleep a lot when you’re camping, huh?”

“It’s all the fresh air.” Dex chuckled and tugged him in harder.

“It’s no TV.” He knew that.

Laughing, Dex tugged him close. “I’m so glad I met you, Kent.”

“I’m glad you met me too.” It felt like fate.

  “Good.”

Dex kissed him softly, and they both lay there, quiet and comfortable, as sleep came for them.

  Chapter Seven

DEX WAS downtown at Tech for Life’s offices for a meeting. It had gone well, and he had a check in his pocket, which was always a good thing. He supposed he could head to the gym and work out or swim. Or he could walk the two blocks over and drop in on Kent. That idea had far more appeal.

The last couple of weeks had been awesome. They hadn’t spent every day together, but they had spent a few evenings and all their weekends. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d clicked so well with someone.

Getting off the elevator, he went over and knocked on Kent’s door.

“Hey, honey!” Kent met him with a grin. “Perfect timing. I just finished coding.”

“Oh good. I was hoping you’d be home. I was in the neighborhood and wanted to see you. Well, I want to see you whether I’m in the neighborhood or not, but I was so—” Dex rolled his eyes at himself and started again. “Hey, sweet.” He leaned in and took a kiss.

“Hey.” Kent drew him in, relaxed and easy, closing the door behind them.

“Have you got plans for this afternoon?” Dex asked.

“I was thinking about making a sandwich. You hungry?”

Dex nodded. “Yeah, I could eat.” He followed Kent into the little kitchen. “Can I do anything to help?”

“Sure. I have chicken breast, provolone. You want to cut tomatoes?”

“I can do that. And it sounds delicious.” He spotted the bread and grabbed the bag. “You’ve got that multigrain bread from the bakery down the road I recommended.” He grabbed a cutting board and a knife.

“God, that was a good suggestion. Love it.”

He smiled. Kent threw himself into life with gusto, and Dex just loved it.

He sliced a tomato into four rounds so they could each have two slices on their sandwich.

“Mustard, oil, and vinegar?” Kent asked.

“Oil and vinegar? On a sandwich?” Dex had never heard of that.

“Yeah, like, uh…. Oh, what else do they call it? Deli dressing?”

“Huh. Sure, let’s try it.” He didn’t eat at delis all that much—he made most of his own food so he knew what was in it.

Kent grinned. “It’s just like Italian dressing.”

“Well, that sounds good.” He nodded and handed over the tomatoes.

Kent built the sandwiches and sprinkled dressing on. Still wielding the knife, he cut them both in half and plated them while Kent got them a couple bottles of water. They worked well together.

“Looks good, honey.” Kent bumped hips with him.

“We do good things together.” He bumped back, feeling nicely warm, inside and out.

  “We do. We really do.”

p; “Yeah. Hey, I’m racing on Wednesday next week, about an hour away. Would you like to come and cheer me on?”

“I’d love to.” The immediate response felt amazing. “Text me all the details and I’ll schedule it in. Do you need a ride?”

“I’d love one. I can make it on my own, but if you’re going to be there, we might as well travel together. It’ll mean a little extra waiting around, but if you don’t mind….”

“I will bring my Kindle,” Kent suggested.

  “Cool.”

They sat together in the breakfast nook, and Dex started in on his sandwich. “Mmm. That dressing trick makes a ton of difference.”

  “Isn’t it good?”

“It is. You really know your food.” Hell, he’d call Kent a foodie.

“Oh, I like eating, you know that. Wait until I tempt you into the horror that is chocolate-covered bacon.”

“Chocolate-covered bacon?” That did sound kind of horrific. Candied bacon was bad enough.

“Yeah, you cook the bacon and then dip it in melted chocolate. It’s amazing.”

“That’s so wrong.” He meant it too.

  “Uh-huh.” Kent looked totally unconcerned.

Chuckling, Dex continued eating his sandwich. The dressing was decadent and spicy and good. He dragged his foot up along Kent’s leg. “So what did you want to do when we finish eating?”

“Hmmm. We could go swim. We could play cards.”

“We could watch a movie and make out,” Dex suggested.

“Oh, that sounds fun.” Kent grinned at him. “You have the best ideas.”

He liked that Kent just agreed with him instead of calling him a perv or a horn dog or something. It meant Kent was right there with him. They were perfectly matched, both of them. Perfect enough that it was a little unnerving, honestly.

He leaned over the small table, taking a kiss.

“Mmm.” Kent kissed him back, then rubbed their noses together.

“What kind of movies do you like?” Maybe they were incompatible there. Somehow he didn’t think it would matter even if they were.

“I just love to watch. I have movies I didn’t like, but not a whole genre, you know?”

“Cool. I’m kind of the same way, although I don’t like gore fests, really.” Dex didn’t have much time for blood and gore, not when there was so much else out there.
